JTAG Introduction
AVR JTAG with Atmel’s AVR Studio + iccavr or WINAVR cooperating complete set of on-chip JTAG-based debugging tool interface, supports all AVR 8-bit RISC instruction with a JTAG port of the microprocessor. JTAG interface is a 4-wire IEEE 1149.1 compliant test access port (TAP) controller. The IEEE standard provides an effective board connectivity testing standard methods (boundary-scan). Atmel’s AVR devices has been extended to support full programming and on-chip debug function.
AVR JTAG emulator chip used for hardware emulation, such as single-step program execution, set breakpoints, you can learn more by hardware emulation operation of the chip inside the program. AVR JTAG emulator chip is mainly used to simulate the operation, but also can be programmed through the JTAG interface chip (the program into the chip).
