MC34063, DC-DC Buck Boost Regulator IC, Vin 3-40V, Vout 1.5-30V 1.5A, DIP 4 Pack

The MC34063 has a wide input supply range between 3V to 40 Volt, It can provide high output switch current upto 1.5A we need to provide specific inductor. It can provide adjustable output voltage and has short circuit current limiting and low standby current. By using few external components we can implement this IC into buck, boost and inverting topologies. Since the regulation occurs through switching it is very efficient than linear circuits.

Design Example 1

• Formula Vout = 1.25(1+(R2 / R1)
• If POT R2 = 50K then Vout = 1.25(1+ (R2 / R1)) = 1.25 ( 1 + (50k/2.2k)) = 29.65V
• If POT R2 = 0 the Vout = 1.25(1+ (R2 / R1)) = 1.25 ( 1 + (0/2.2k)) = 2.25 (3V Practical)
• Note: Place every components as close as possible to the IC.
