Description
Overview
The MPC89E58AP is an enhanced 8-bit 8051-compatible microcontroller from Megawin, designed for embedded control and general-purpose microcontroller applications. It combines a classic 80C51 CPU architecture with integrated Flash program memory, RAM, timers, UART, watchdog, ISP, and IAP capabilities.
The device operates from 4.5 V to 5.5 V and supports selectable 12T or 6T instruction modes, with operating frequencies up to 48 MHz in 12T mode or 24 MHz in 6T mode. The MPC89E58AP is supplied in a 44-pin PLCC package with additional I/O compared with the standard 40-pin 8051 package.

The PLCC-44 version provides 36 I/O pins, with the additional four Port 4 bits available specifically on the PLCC-44 and PQFP-44 versions.
Flash Memory
The MPC89E58A family provides 32 KB of on-chip program Flash. A portion of the Flash can be configured for ISP programming space, with the remaining area available for IAP/data-Flash use. The datasheet describes configurable 1 KB, 2 KB, or 4 KB ISP memory, with up to 31 KB programmable data Flash depending on configuration.
Timers
The MCU includes three 16-bit timer/counters. Timer 2 additionally supports up/down counting and programmable clock output functionality.
UART
The integrated enhanced UART supports features such as:
- Standard serial communication
- Frame-error detection
- Hardware address recognition
This makes the device suitable for both conventional UART communication and multi-device serial systems.
GPIO
The device provides four standard 8-bit ports plus an additional 4-bit Port 4 on the PLCC-44 package, giving up to 36 general-purpose I/O pins.
Power & Programming
Power
- Supply voltage: 4.5–5.5 V
- Suitable for conventional 5 V 8051-based systems
- Supports Idle and Power-Down operating modes
Programming
The MPC89E58AP supports:
- ISP — In-System Programming
- IAP — In-Application Programming
- Flash memory security mechanisms
- On-chip Flash programming
A compatible Megawin programmer/debugging solution is required for programming the device.

What’s Included
- 1 × MPC89E58AP 8-Bit Microcontroller
- Package: PLCC-44
- Surface-mount IC
Notes
- MPC89E58AP is the PLCC-44 version of the MPC89E58A family. The corresponding package variants include MPC89E58AE (DIP-40) and MPC89E58AF (PQFP-44).
- This is an 8051-compatible MCU, making it suitable for projects based on the traditional 8051 architecture.
- The device requires 4.5–5.5 V, so it is not intended as a direct 3.3 V MCU.
- The manufacturer documentation describes 256 bytes of scratch-pad RAM plus 1 KB auxiliary RAM. These should not be represented simply as a single 1.25 KB conventional 8051 RAM block.
- No ADC or PWM peripheral is specified in the referenced MPC89E58A documentation, so these should not be advertised as built-in features.
- Programmer/debugger is not included; this listing is for the microcontroller IC only.
